Wheeled excavators offer versatility and mobility, and now VCE offers three new models to choose from: the short swing EWR150E and EWR170E, and the conventional swing EW220E.
“Wheeled excavators are underutilized in North America, and contractors are missing out on the benefits they bring, especially in applications like road building and in urban utility work,” said VCE Wheeled Excavator Product Manager Matt McLean. “They can travel on their own up to 22 mph from site to site, even towing a trailer.” With lighter footprints and less damage to hard surfaces than crawlers, wheeled excavators offer less cleanup and lower labor costs to contractors.
Versatile on the Jobsite
With industry-leading short swing radiuses, the EWR150E and EWR170E are ideal for confined spaces such as one-lane traffic, with 67.7 inches and 70 inches respectively. For added versatility, VCE offers a comprehensive portfolio of 20 different purpose-built attachments.
Efficiency made a Priority
Fuel efficiency features on the new wheeled excavator lineup include the Volvo Tier 4 Final engine, which offers high torque at low engine rpm, automatic idling and engine shutdown, both engaged after a pre-set amount of time, and the proprietary ECO to reduce fuel consumption. When selecting your machine, you have the option to choose between two undercarriage types: one designed to minimize weight, and another designed for heavy-duty work.
For added stability at high speeds on rough terrain, consider an optional Boom Suspension System to help absorb shocks that can unsettle the bucket load.
Easy to Operate and Maintain
Features include the industry-leading Volvo cab with generous leg room and all-around visibility, proportional-controlled joysticks, grouped greasing points, filters placed behind wide-opening engine doors, and improved access for easier maintenance. For improved visibility, you can add the optional Volvo Smart View, made up of three cameras that create a bird’s-eye view of the machine.
All Volvo wheeled excavators, including the new models, are now backed by the Volvo Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty, which covers the frame, boom and arm for the entirety of the initial ownership period. The machines are also eligible for a free year of ActiveCare Direct.
