Meet the HE&SC Heavy Equipment Champion

Updated: Apr 6, 2020

On Tuesday, March 31, the 2020 Highway Equipment & Supply Co. (HE&SC) Heavy Equipment Championship reached its climactic conclusion as Group A's #3 Seeded NPK GH7 Hydraulic Hammer faced off against Group B's #3 Seeded NPK GH15 Hydraulic Hammer in a dynamic battle of the breakers. With 86% of the votes, the GH15 emerged victorious.

The Journey So Far

One articulated hauler, five excavators, three hydraulic hammers, three pavers, a wheel loader, a light tower, an air compressor, and a plate compactor went head-to-head in one-on-one battles in which voters on Highway's Facebook page determined which equipment progressed to the Epic 8 bracket.

Contenders from Volvo CE, NPK, and Doosan Portable Power, which included the articulated hauler, the wheel loader, three excavators, two hydraulic hammers, and the light tower, took to the courts on St. Patrick's Day in hopes of gaining the luck of the Irish and making it to the Fabled 4.

On March 24, Volvo CE's two #1 seeded iron giants, the A40G articulated hauler from Group A and the L90H wheel loader from Group B, faced off against NPK's dynamic duo of #3 seeded hydraulic hammers, Group A's GH7 and Group B's GH15. After two heated contests with record-breaking Facebook poll votes, the Group A's #3 Seeded NPK GH7 Hydraulic Hammer and Group B's #3 Seeded NPK GH15 Hydraulic Hammer broke through to the championship by the skin of their teeth.
