Here is what you will learn:

Ability to make major and minor repairs on construction equipment, including but not limited to, engine repairs and hydraulic systems. fuel systems, electrical systems, transmission work, cooling systems, and brake work
Preform regular and preventative maintenance including inspections, oil changes, etc.
Perform diagnostic tests
Maintain accurate records of repairs completed

Internship Success

Michael

Starting as an intern in 11th grade in January 2018, he transitioned to a full-time role after high school while pursuing a college degree in diesel technology. His dedication and hard work led him to become a Gold Certified Factory Bobcat Technician. Recommended by a high school co-op teacher, Michael quickly found Highway to be a great place to grow his skills. His advice for future interns? "Never take shortcuts. Show up to work ready to go and have an optimistic mindset."

Brady

Starting as a co-op intern in February 2024, Brady transitioned to a full-time technician by August. Since then, he has expanded his skills through multiple training sessions at the Volvo Construction Equipment Training Center and the Takeuchi Training Center. What drew Brady to Highway was the company’s commitment to teaching, with other skilled technicians guiding him every step of the way. Looking ahead, his goal is to become a road technician within the next five years.

Dylan

Starting as a part-time intern in October 2023, Dylan then transitioned into a full-time employee, gaining valuable experience along the way. An internship at Highway was recommended by a high school co-op teacher. If you're considering an internship, Dylan's advice is simple: "It’s a very safe place to work, and I generally have fun day to day. Take advantage of every opportunity!"
