Originally launched in 2017 for excavators, articulated haulers, and wheel loaders, ActiveCare Direct (ACD) is now available on select Volvo CE asphalt pavers. The P7110B and P7170B are eligible for a free one-year ACD subscription with a new machine purchase, or you can buy a subscription for your existing qualifying models.
Volvo CE expanded its telematics service to road machinery due to customers' positive feedback and heavy usage. ACD is already available for select asphalt and soil compactors.
“This is an incredible step forward in how companies manage their equipment and employees," said Volvo CE Connected Services Sales Manager Dave Adams. "Adding the service to pavers is another sign of the impact and value our customers are experiencing in the markets where we already offer ActiveCare Direct.”
How it Works
Volvo CE's telematics system, CareTrack, collects machine data, which ACD sends to the Uptime Center in Pennsylvania, where analysts use a proprietary software to sort through thousands of data points and fault codes.
The Uptime Center contacts the machine owner and local dealership in real time whenever an issue requires attention. Rather than sending a plethora of undiagnosed fault codes, ACD provides case alerts with probable causes, recommended solutions, and consequences of not taking action.
ACD also sends monthly fleet-utilization reports to machine owners. The report includes fleet usage, individual machine summaries, and machine misuse to provide the insight customers need to optimize their operations and address operator issues.
